Oguz Alyanak selected as op-ed columnists for Anthropology News

Anthropology News is the news source for the American Anthropological Association (AAA). They publish articles, reports and more by AAA members and provide resources including information on conferences, calls for papers, and relevant fellowships. Recently, Anthropology News had a call for op-ed columnists and graduate student Oguz Alyanak, a sociocultural anthropologist with Washington University in St. Louis, applied- pitching the idea to write about Turkish politics and society. He has since been selected as one of the columnists for this year, and will be writing monthly for the Anthropology News website.

Oguz Alyanak is a PhD candidate in sociocultural anthropology and a McDonnell scholar at Washington University in St. Louis. His fieldwork in Strasbourg, funded by the Wenner-Gren Foundation, was on moral anxieties pertaining to Muslim Turkish men’s going out habits in the Franco-German borderland.
