The Undergraduate Program in Anthropology

Students collecting blood samples for hormonal analysis in the Biomarkers LabAnthropologists study the history and variety of human experience, a field so broad that the discipline of anthropology intentionally includes other disciplines such as economics, history, psychology, biology, and sociology.  To simplify such a broad range of interests, the field of anthropology is divided into four main areas, three of which are well represented by the teaching and research interests of the anthropology faculty at Washington University:  sociocultural anthropology, archaeology, physical anthropology. With the help of faculty advisors, you can plan courses, pursue research and internship opportunities, and choose from a list of options for studying abroad that fit your interests and career plans.
