Anna Stark, Anthropology Class of 2003, is a Program Manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR Commercial Buildings program. She is responsible for coordinating outreach to commercial sector markets, including office, retail and hospitality, representing over 8 billion square feet of commercial space. She works with property owners and operators, and other financial stakeholders to promote whole building energy efficiency. In 2009, Anna was selected by the American Institute in Taiwan to serve as their 2009 Science Fellow. She explored the status of green buildings in Taiwan and shared best practices from the ENERGY STAR Buildings program and the green building movement in the United States.
Prior to joining ENERGY STAR, Anna worked as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, helping public and private sector organizations develop and implement Environmental Management Systems.
After graduating from Washington University, Anna earned a Master of Environmental Management degree from Duke University.
Anna believes her degree in Anthropology has contributed to her success in the work place. "Besides increasing my interest in the environment, my Anthropology degree really taught me to understand and appreciate different cultures, values, and perspectives, which turn out to be very useful skills in an office atmosphere!"
