Recognizing Our Graduates 

Every May, graduating seniors are joined by their friends, family, faculty, and peers in a heartfelt celebration of achievement. 

The next Arts & Sciences Recognition Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 8:30 a.m. on Francis Olympic Field. At this ceremony, each graduate will be recognized by name.  On Monday, May 15, the university-wide Commencement will be held on Francis Olympic Field at 9 a.m., and the graduates will be recognized by school.

Arts & Sciences Recognition Ceremony

At the Arts & Sciences Recognition Ceremony on Sunday, May 14 at 8:30 a.m. the College deans and faculty recognize individually those students who are earning the A.B. degree, and they will have the chance to cross the stage as their name is announced. Students should file their intent to graduate through WebSTAC to "register" for the ceremony.

A&S graduates celebrate at the University-wide Commencement ceremony

University-wide Commencement Ceremony

On Monday, May 15th, the university-wide Commencement Ceremony will take place. Commencement includes graduates of all schools and recognizes Arts & Sciences undergraduate and graduate students collectively. Students should register to participate in the university-wide ceremony with the Commencement Office on their website (linked below).

About the Recognition Ceremony

Location 

The College will hold its Recognition Ceremony in historic Francis Olympic Field, which will also serve as the the site for the university-wide Commencement ceremony. This is a rain or shine event.

Alternate Viewing Options

The ceremony will be streamed live to several locations on campus and may also be viewed off campus. 

Accessibility

Accessibility maps and information about buildings on campus can be found on our Facilities website.

For those needing to drop off guests with accessibility needs, please enter the lot in front of Simon Hall (168) from Olympian Way and Forsyth. Proceed to the drop off point and volunteers will be there to assist you.

Accessible parking is available to those displaying a state issued accessible placard or license plate in the Danforth University Center Garage (DUC) (200).  Accessible parking in the DUC Garage may only be accessed via Forsyth and Olympian Way.

Accessible seating

Entrances into Francis Olympic Field are accessible. Once inside the field, ushers are available to assist with seating.

Sign language

An American Sign Language interpreter will be present during Commencement and during individual recognition ceremonies.

Wheelchair reservations

We may have a limited number of wheelchairs available for the Arts & Sciences Recognition ceremony. More details will be posted when available.  

Golf Carts

In order to meet the needs of guests requiring transportation assistance on the morning of Commencement, we anticipate that golf carts will circulate around the interior of the Danforth Campus from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with limited service

Additional Details

At this event, graduates will be recognized individually by major. A professional photographer photographs each graduate, and the proofs are emailed to students shortly after the ceremony. The Ceremony should conclude about 11:00 a.m. The event will also stream live on our website (link to come).
