2018 Robert W. Sussman Award for Scientific Contributions to Anthropology Announced

The American Association for the Advancement of Science inaugural award

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Section H (Anthropology) is pleased to announce that Dr. Erik Seiffert from the Department of Integrative Anatomical Sciences, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California has been selected as the recipient of the inaugural 2018 Robert W. Sussman Award for Scientific Contributions to Anthropology. Dr. Seiffert exemplifies the spirit of this award with his prolific and insightful contributions to our understanding of primate evolution.
 
This award recognizes meritorious scientific contributions to the field of anthropology by mid-career anthropologists. It was established at the 2017 AAAS Annual meeting, to honor Bob Sussman’s embodiment of the science and spirit of Anthropology. Dr. Sussman was a leading scholar on the evolution of human and primate behavior and an influential professor with the Department of Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. He was named a Fellow of AAAS in 2000 and at the time of his death was the retiring chair of Section H (Anthropology).
